CurrClick is where I sell my unit studies, more than at my own website (needs some updating). I also ordered some of my homeschool curriculum (especially notebook or lapbook items, which are great to use with unit studies!) from the site when I was still homeschooling. I have found that their prices are excellent and they even give away a downloadable freebie every week! How awesome is that?! Soon my Monet Unit Study will be offered as the freebie of the week on their site. So keep a look out!
I also used to order a lot of my curriculum from The Rainbow Resource Center. They too have excellent prices and have just about everything that you can think of to use for homeschooling! I ordered the majority of my curriculum from this company, especially the three Rs. I would also order items that could be used with my own unit studies as well.
I found that these 2 resources for homeschool curriculum were the best bang for my buck! They both have excellent service as well and I found the shipping costs to be very reasonable. If you order over $150 worth of items at the Rainbow Resource Center, shipping is free!
And of course, I wrote a lot of my own curriculum as well in the form of unit studies, which I found to be an excellent and enjoyable way to homeschool my children. I have very creative and artistic children so I needed a creative and interesting way to educate them, keeping their attention. My son with Aspergers Syndrome really enjoyed learning about topics that were of particular interest to him and unit study was a great way to do that! I also added notebooking (and even a lapbook once or twice) to add even more creativity to what we were learning.
In a couple of months, I want to put a free literature unit up and would love to have ideas from my fans on Facebook or those who subscribe to my Hip2Homeschool Unit Studies blog! So if you have a book that you would like to see a literature unit on, let me know. Just leave a comment!
Until next time......

My New Background
I have chosen the autism awareness background because of my son, who has Aspergers Syndrome. We have had a hard time getting him diagnosed through the public schools so we will be testing him this summer privately. But after observing him all school year, those who have been working with him, have told me that they strongly agree that they believe that he does have it. One of those people has 2 children who have AS. I have known it in my heart for the past couple of years. I homeschooled him up to this past fall and I know him better than anyone as his mom. He definitely has most of the "symptoms" of AS. I have read a lot about it, have gotten counsel from moms who have children with AS, and I plan to read up on it further. I dedicate my new blog to those who have children with Autism/Aspergers.
Two books that were recommended to me to read are All Cats Have Aspergers Syndrome and The Complete Guide to Aspergers Syndrome. If anyone wants to read up on it more as I do, these are some of the best books to start with, I have been told.
I really miss homeschooling but I am happy that I at least got to do it for 9 years. Even though I no longer homeschool, I do love to write unit studies to share with homeschoolers. It has been a joy and a lot of fun! I also look forward to sharing my experiences of using unit studies in my past homeschooling adventures and sending some freebie units your way on this blog.
Until next time.....

Unit Study Homeschooling
Unit studies are a wonderful way to make learning an exciting experience in your homeschool! With unit studies, you can visit another time or place. You can explore your children's interests and make their education more personal to them. Any topic can be studied, even something like surfing. With a unit on surfing, you can explore other countries such as Australia or Africa, where many pro surfers come from. You can even explore places in this country, such as California and Florida. Learn about the land (geography), the history of that place, the culture, as well as other interesting subjects pertaining to the state or country that you are studying. You could study and learn about the ocean (science) and the animals that live in it. Learn about how surfing was started and by whom, as well as read about people in the pro surfing industry, such as Tom Curren or Kelly Slater. You could also make a timeline of surfing and even add world events that were going on during that time period. Add in some coloring pages and crafts to make it even more fun.
I am currently writing a unit on Chemistry, a topic suggested by one of my Facebook fans. Chemistry was not really an interest of mine but I am actually enjoying doing this unit so far and find it very interesting. So unit studies can actually make a topic that might not be your "cup of tea" more fascinating to you and easier to learn about.
I love to add a notebook or lapbook to my unit studies, which makes it fun. Plus it is a nice way to document what you are learning too! I started notebooking with my kids the last couple of years that I homeschooled them and now have some fond memories and documentation of what we learned those years. It really added some creativity to our homeschooling.
